Summer Favorite: Giving Back at The Green Chair Project

We had so much fun getting out of the office on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, to join in for NC REALTORS® Gives Back Day. This event is a way for local associations and their members to come together and participate in a housing-related service project in their area and we jumped at the opportunity to schedule a nice team-building outing doing some good here in Raleighwood!

The entire Hillman Real Estate Group team spent the day with our friends from The Green Chair Project and on this day, we happened to be helping at their private sale room. At times, Green Chair receives donations of items that aren’t necessarily something that will be a great fit in an apartment – think: Waterford crystal, chandeliers, etc. – and each month they sell these items to the public, attributing to 25% of their fundraising revenue. So while you think something you no longer love may not work as a donation, there are different ways GCP can use them!

On this particular day we were making sure the showroom was sparkling and shiny! It was not the most glamorous job, dusting and cleaning, but something that needed to be done with all of the recent construction at The Green Chair’s location and resulting dust. HREG is always ready to lend a helping hand where needed and that’s what we did – everyone on our team is a great team player both in and outside the real estate arena.

The Green Chair Project reuses donated household furnishings to renew lives of participants referred from area programs who are recovering after homelessness, crisis or disaster. As you can imagine, as real estate professionals, we live and breathe “home” and believe it to be so important for everyone to have a comfortable place they can retreat to each day to recharge. The Green Chair Project is just one of the many local organizations making it possible for our neighbors in need to do just that.
