Virtual Activities and More to Do With Your Kids

Virtual Activities and More to Do With Your KidsAre you and your children starting to go a little stir-crazy during the COVID-19 shutdown? Our team knows exactly how you feel. We got together, virtually, of course, and compiled a list of some of the things we have been doing at home to help keep our kids entertained and a few activities we are excited to try. We hope this helps. Stay safe and sane!

North Carolina Museum of Art: Although the galleries are temporarily closed, the museum invites you to experience your NCMA from home. Through these virtual offerings, inspired by the Museum collection, they hope to foster contemplation, meditation, and creativity.

North Carolina Zoo Virtual Visit: While the Zoo is closed, they have lots of animal stories, animal and nature education presentations, and fun activities so you can stay connected.

North Carolina Aquarium: Read about sea turtles, sand tiger sharks, wind energy and more at their virtual bookshelf. Get to know a new animal every month with photos, videos, and cool facts. You can help save animals in the wild by doing simple things in your own home.

Marbles Kids Museum: While the museum is closed, Marbles is posting daily activities to help you spark a little learning and laughter at home.

North Carolina Museum of History: Explore exhibits, engage the collections, tune into a podcast, check out blog posts and enrich your learning of Tar Heel history with their History-at-Home learning packets.

Museum of Life and Science: The Museum may be closed due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak, but their dedication to curiosity, science, and exploration keeps going. The Museum is sharing digital content to provide you with engaging ways to learn, ask questions, and discover life and science in exciting new ways.

Planets for Kids: You will find lots of information about the solar system with lots of questions and answers and games for you to play. They also have a color in section where you can download pictures and have fun.

YogaJoy for Kids: Free videos and online Zoom classes are available to help your family stretch it out.

Quail Ridge Books: They are open and offering free media mail shipping on books, magazines, and newspapers if you order them from the Raleigh bookstore.

Wine and Design Apex: They are offering take-home paint kits, which can be picked up curbside. They are $15 for a mini paint kit and $25 for a large paint kit. Buy four kits and get one free.

Romp n’ Roll: Rompy’s House at Home is their online class curriculum filled with sensory-rich, music, art, and movement-based activities that keep kids stimulated cognitively, physically, and socially. Their daily activities are designed for children across multiple age groups, including babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Draw With Rob: When the coronavirus pandemic quarantine period began in Spring/Summer 2020, Rob realized that lots of people were going to find themselves at home with their children for several weeks/months looking for things to do. So he decided to post a draw-along video every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. that parents could watch with their kids and, hopefully, make some nice pictures.

Carolina Tiger Rescue: Over the coming days and weeks, Carolina Tiger Rescue will be ramping up their online content, including their Facebook Live broadcasts.

The Body Coach TV: Body Coach TV was started with the goal to offer free home workouts to everyone, no matter what their fitness levels. It’s taken them a long time to grow it but it now has over 250+ free workouts.

LUNCH DOODLES with Mo Willems: Around the world, people of all ages have joined Mo Willems in his studio for weekday LUNCH DOODLES. The three-week run, all 15 episodes, and their downloadable activities are archived. Let the doodling continue!

Josh Gad (Voice of Olaf): Enjoy hearing Josh Gad read a new book each day at 7 p.m.
