REALTOR®
Jon has called the Triangle home for over 25 years. In fact, he and Renee grew up together as neighbors and high school classmates! After earning a BA in Economics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jon received his Master of Business Administration from Kansas State University as a Dow Chemical Graduate Scholar.
In the past, “The Senator” (as we have nicknamed him) has worked in finance, customer service, and assisted C-Level corporate leadership with risk management. He has worked in the real estate sector since 2015. Joining the Hillman Real Estate Group team in the fall of 2018, he is a true advocate, providing his clients with information that will allow them to become more informed decision makers.
The thing he enjoys most about real estate is showing people not familiar with areas or communities something new. “When a person is ‘wowed’ by a certain community or neighborhood it brings me fulfillment. I like to give them the story behind what they see. Growing up in the Triangle, I have seen it evolve and to talk about the improvements or changes is probably the best part of my job,” says Jonathan.
Another part of the job that “The Senator” finds fulfilling is being able to help a person get a home they thought was impossible. It can be a first-time homebuyer or someone trying to buy their dream home. “The journey of taking them from doubters to believers is an enjoyment.”
Renee Says: “One of the reasons I hired Jonathan to this team is he is sincere about helping people and will go out of his way to do so. He is a gentleman, knowledgeable, and well spoken. He comes from a good family and values family as a result — a trait we all share here at HREG. He also has a thirst for knowledge and learning which aligns with our values as a team.”
Outside of the office, Jon enjoys going to his nephew’s sporting events and cheering them on with the rest of the Edwards family. He spends time exercising (both lifting weights and cardio), watching sports (soccer, basketball, and road racing), road trips – as well as cooking for friends and family. Discovering local restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, bands, artists, and events. He believes “we were put on this Earth to help each other” and as a result, likes to volunteer with the food bank, Big Brother, and other organizations that allow him to be hands-on with the people benefiting from the work.
Another unique tidbit about Jon? He’s a lifelong learner and shares that “one of the benefits of living in the Triangle is the higher learning institutions. If there’s a speaker or event at the colleges, I like to make my way there. The energy around the schools is undeniable and helps me stay creative.”
