2024: HREG Wants Your Undies (Wake County, Durham County, and Western North Carolina Drive)
It’s time for the eighth annual Undies Drive for our friends at Note in the Pocket, and this year, we’re making an even bigger impact. After the devastating events in the western North Carolina mountains, there’s an urgent need for support. We’re also seeing a great need right here in Wake County and Durham Country, as many local resources are being directed to the mountains.
To help both communities, for every pair of undies you donate, we’ll donate two! (Monetary donations work the same way. If you donate $1 we will donate $2.) One pair will support Note in the Pocket’s efforts in Wake County and Durham County, and the other will go to their work in western North Carolina. Together, we can make a difference in both areas!
This year’s drive will take place between Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, and Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, and we have set the goal high because we know you will bring it!
About Note in the Pocket
Note in the Pocket provides clothing to impoverished and homeless schoolchildren in Wake County and Durham County with dignity and love. They believe that it is unacceptable for children to be limited in their educational and social development because they do not have appropriate clothes for school and we are proud to support their efforts.
We’ve set a big goal this year—we want to donate 5,000 pairs by Friday, Dec. 20, 2024! This year, we are accepting donations of new underwear in all sizes. In the last seven years, we have donated over 27,057 pairs of socks and undies!
In Wake County…
Did you know there are over 50,000 students in the Wake County School System that are at or below the poverty level? No matter how large or small the donation, you can help us get to 5,000 pairs of new underwear for those students.
In Western North Carolina…
The recent hurricane has left many communities in urgent need of basic necessities, including underwear, socks, and clothing. As families work to rebuild after the storm, these essential items are often overlooked but critically important.
By donating to our Undies Drive, you’re helping provide much-needed support to those affected by the hurricane. Your donations will directly impact individuals who are facing incredible challenges, offering them comfort and dignity during this difficult time.
Let’s come together to lend a hand to our neighbors in western North Carolina as they recover and rebuild.
How to Give
It’s *super* easy to participate. All you have to do is shop our Amazon Wish List or our Target Wish List, and send new undies to our office (Attn: Renee Hillman, 100 Lynn Road, Raleigh, NC 27609), or feel free to drop off.
Monetary donations are perfectly acceptable, too! You can contribute directly to Renée or feel free to Venmo her at @Renee_Hillman or Paypal her.
