Compared with June 2019’s 8,998 homes listed for the sale within the local multiple listing service (Triangle MLS), June 2020 presented just 5,976 listings available for sale – a 33.56% reduction year over year.
In Durham County specifically, the listing volume is down 21%. In Wake County, the number of listings is down 35%. And in Chatham County, a full 39% reduction was seen in June.
This doesn’t mean that the market is holding a lot of stale listings, either… in Durham, under contract pending sales increased 9%; in Wake County, they increased 20%; and Chatham County measured a 51% increase in year over year transactions placed under contract.
