What’s Cooking: Three Kitchen Trends for 2016

If a kitchen renovation, or just a few pointed purchases, is in your budget for 2016, keep reading for a look at the latest trends in one of the most popular rooms in the home: the kitchen!

Stainless Gets a New Look

At this year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, stainless steel got a makeover with a darker finish – black, in fact. A still sleek, but less reflective finish, the black stainless option aims to reduce owner frustration over the all too often appearance of prints and smudges. And as always, continued energy efficiency is still a big selling point, so if your 1990’s era ‘fridge is weighing on your power bills, there’s no better time to upgrade. Convenience Always Wins

Tired of having to dirty several pots and pans to prep for one dish? Those days are over with all-purpose bakeware designed to go from the cabinet, to counter – from the refrigerator, to oven – and beyond! And of course, the come in all sorts of colors so you can coordinate with your current kitchen decor in case this is your only upgrade this season. PS: Did I mention they’re dishwasher safe, too? Simplicity is Luxury

Large countertops serving multiple purposes for prep, entertaining, and casual dining; ample oven racks in multiple ovens; and built-in modern appliances (like wine storage and refrigerators) are just some of the wow factor elements that caught my eye in a recent tour of model homes by Saussy Burbank, a new home builder in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Charleston. I visited the new 12 Oaks neighborhood in Holly Springs and snapped the following pictures while in the models. Whether you’re a true gourmet cook or just like to dabble on the weekends, these kitchens and their upgraded features are sure to delight!
